Luca Matei

I’m 22. I live in Bucharest. I write software.

The work is remote, for a New York luxury travel company. I keep my own hours because that’s how the work gets good — long unbroken stretches, nobody watching. I’d rather ship on a Sunday than perform availability on a Tuesday.

A few things I understand well. Not many things I half-use. It makes me slow to start and very hard to replace.

I lift. I’m learning Italian badly, which is the only way anyone learns anything. I care too much about menswear and fragrance. When I travel I want to feel a place, not tick it off a list.

I volunteer at Cuibul Artiștilor, a meta-modernist theatre. In September I start teaching BAC prep for high school seniors. Free, to whoever shows up.

I think badly in my head and better on a page. So I write. It happens below.
